Catching up

Ok, so the new semester has started and we are busy with our final projects. Lists are nice and this is what has happened since the last time...

• I spent most of my summer in Italy and had a great time! (Thanks family)
• School started and there's a lot of people at Telefonplan nowadays
• Playing Mario kart is really fun
  
• Me and my group has Ikea as a client and we've got a really challenging and fun problem to solve
• My bag got stolen this weekend. I miss my mobilephone and my wallet
• It's hard to live a "real" life without driving license, creditcards and mobilephone
• Fall is on it's way and I got big problems concentrating on all the things I have got to do

Well it's been a while... This is basically what has happened since the last time

• I've updated and changed my Portfolio many times (will I ever stop?)
• I've finished a really fun project at school (Rosegarden)
• I've finished decorating and painting in my apartment (turned out great, especially the wall in the bedroom that I "designed")
• We've started a new module at school and because of that I’ve started to work as a project manager in the fake company the New Pineapple
• I've booked hotels in Italy for the summer
• I've started thinking about where I want to spend my time during the 7 month long internship which will be starting in November

Release

I've been at home for two days now curing my cold... This is basically why I don't like the weather in Sweden... It's so cold that I tend up being more or less sick all the time... (atleast it feels like that).

Tomorrow is the big day.. it's the day when our class site is revealed and we have our big releaseparty! Luckily I feel better today so tomorrow is all about school work during the day and party during the night! Yay! Can't wait! I had a vision about me finishing my portfolio in time for the releaseparty but unfortunatly I had to tell the little perfection in me that that aint gonna happen. I just haven't had the time, but atleast I started... Since I haven't done a website in Flash before I decided to challenge myself by doing that this time with my portfolio... and I must say that I love it! Flash is the shit! ( when it does what I want it to do, that is.)

Design

The specialisation 1 module stared last week and we´ve already been doing quite alot. Yesterday we had deadline on the "theatre poster" assignment and this is what I came up with....

I couldn´t really do the finishing touches on the poster since my computer decided to crash in the middle of the assignment... haha... but now it works so I'll probably work som more on it when I have the time...

Well well...I'm gonna get some coffee and then I'm gonna get started on the next assignment... bye

I need to focus

First week back after christmas passed on quickly but gave me loads to think about. The module is called Communication skills and Marcus Höök from Agera helped us with presentation techniques and what to think about in presentation situations and so on.

Now I'm at home trying to focus on the concept for my portfolio, and it's not that easy. Suddenly everything else is soooo important and fun to do (blogging as an example)... In all my confusion and not doing what I should be doing-ness(?) I atleast managed to make some Illustrations and maby a start on a motion...

Portfolio time

It’s been a long time… I know… But I’ve been busy

Two more modules are now settled and we’re starting the portfolio module… I feel a bit relieved that the group works are over but a bit scared at the same time… It’s hard to explain but I kind of have separation anxiety from my group haha…

We’ve been working together during the two last modules and sure it hasn’t been easy, and the group dynamics haven’t been the best but we still managed to deliver some kick-ass work!
I surely feel a lot more confident in the work I do now and that I have the ability to work under pressure.

As a part of my group for the last 8 weeks, I have learned more about me and the way I function in a group than I would have if I had worked in a group where the group dynamics were perfect. So, even though it may sound funny or strange… Thanks for the fighting and the hard times, but especially thanks for the great outcome!

Now I’m on my own for a while… Scary but fun!

Update

The other day we hade a visitor from Billy Blue School in Sydney. I actually was thinking about putting in an application for that school before I knew I got in to Hyper. Seems like a really inspiring school and my desire for getting to australia grew even bigger. Hopefully I'll get an internship at a bureu in Sydney, that would be really great. I'll just hope I'll have the guts to go. Well well that is an issue I'll have to deal with later....

If you haven't read in our groupblog we got a keyboard and a mouse to play with for the experience technology module. At the moment I'm home... and I'm not feeling good at all...Been home sick from school today but hopefully I'll be able to go tomorrow. Atleast I have to be well on thursday for the grand opening party for Hyper Island in Stockholm.

Experience Technology

New module at school, now it's time for experience technology. I must confess that I was a bit sceptical at the beginning but I think I've changed my mind. Now I actually think it's going to be really fun. Seems like a really playful module...

Today the class was divided into 9 groups and my group is going to work with touch. We get the actual task at Monday, so right now I understand just as much as the rest of you...Part of the module task was to create a group blog where you can read all about our work during the next couple of weeks... Yay! Take a look

Motionweek

During motionweek we had to make a 15s motion on only 24hours...This is mine... I'm pretty pleased with it since I've only used After Effects once before...

Weekend of fun...not!

Have been trying to do some AE tutorials today... I can't really say it's been helpfull since I'm still soooo confused when it comes to AE. I usually have no problem learning new programs but today just wasn't my day or maby AE just isn't my type of program...hmmm It's probably because I've been having fever for four days now, but hopefully tomorrow I'll be back on track!

My friend Fia came up with an idé last year that you should do atleast one new illustration a day, and since I've been sick and soo boored this weekend I decided to do that... This one is of my friend Anna and her husband Max at their wedding a month ago... (Click on the image and it will look much better :D)

Spermaharen

Sat through the longest train trip from Uppsala to Stockholm today... not longer than usual refering to time I actually spent on the train, it just felt like that. It's always ...hmm... interesting to have someone unknown snoring in your ear and basically sleeping on your shoulder... well well

In school we had a lecture by our CEO Mattias Hansson. He has apparently done ALOT! For example Spermaharen(you know by Killinggänget?), Zmag@zine, etc etc.

I wish I had the energy to start some new project or learn something new but I'm just tooooo tired, hopefully I'll get the energy up 'til next week...

Hyper Island

Hyper Island told us new students to start our own blog... so I did...

Today we had two really interesting lectures. The first was by Jonathan Briggs, who is one of the founders of Hyper Island and the owner of theOTHERmedia(TheOTHERmedia), and the second was by Tony Högqvist from Perfect Fools.

Jonathan Briggs was talking about the future of Digital Media, what is expected from us as new students at Hyper and Googles impact on the world etc. It was a really interesting lecture! Google scares the shit out of me now!

Tony Högqvist held the second lecture today. He was really inspiring and enthusiastic! It was a thrill to listen to him and to be able to see Perfect Fools work. They´ve made some cool things for Samsung and Saab. Check out their site: Perfect Fools
